QuickTime Alternative is a codec package created for playing QuickTime files, which normally requires the official QuickTime Player, with any video player that supports DirectShow.
QuickTime Alternative uses codecs borrowed from the professional installation of QuickTime 7. As such, its legitimacy has come into question as it is not actually a licensed Apple product.
This codec package includes Media Player Classic and the QuickTime web browser plugin, which supports Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Mozilla and Netscape.
